In April 2001, the Blackwell-ThurmanCriminal Justice Center opened adjacent to the Travis County Jail, off of Nueces Street. It contains a direct supervision booking facility and handles all arrested persons in Travis County.As part of the Blackwell-Thurman Criminal Justice Center, the tower also houses the criminal courts, probation offices and the District Attorney's Office.The city of Austin Municipal Court also offices in the Central Booking Facility.
