Body Recovered from Lake Travis Identified

The body recovered from Lake Travis Monday, May 28, 2018 has been positively identified as DIEGO HUMBERTO CERDA-ACOSTA, 30 of Austin
On May 27, 2018 at 6:22 pm, TCSO responded to a report that a woman swimming in Lake Travis, at Bob Wentz Park was struggling and that three men known to her had swum out to help her. The woman was pulled to shore and CPR was successful. She was transported to a local hospital.
Witnesses told deputies that two of the men who swam out to assist the victim were accounted for, but the third had not returned to shore. Attempts to locate and rescue the man were unsuccessful and at 7:08 pm, the mission shifted from rescue to recovery. A helicopter was used in the search efforts as well as TCSO Lake Patrol resources. Darkness forced the effort to be suspended that evening.

At 7:00 am on Monday, May 28, 2018, the TCSO Dive Team assembled at Bob Wentz Park and by 8:00 am, the body of Mr. Cerda-Acosta was located in nine feet of water, approximately 200 feet from the shoreline.
