Inmate Dies at Travis County Correctional Complex

At 9:56 AM on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 NAQUAN JAMAR CARTER, 23 was found unresponsive in his cell at the Travis County Correctional Complex. Officers and medical staff immediately initiated CPR. ATCEMS responded and continued CPR efforts. Carter was ultimately pronounced dead at 10:39 AM.

An investigation by the Internal Affairs Unit, the Texas Rangers and the Medical Examiner’s Office is ongoing, as is customary with any death in custody. Evidence indicates Carter likely died of natural causes. The autopsy was conducted on July 25, 2018 and the final report is pending toxicology results.
