TCSO Closes Case from June as a Murder/Suicide

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 31, 2019

TCSO Closes Case from June as a Murder/Suicide

On June 4, 2019, deputies responded to an Assist EMS call on Hurst Creek Rd.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered Monika Vetters, 36 of Del Valle, TX and her daughter Veronica Vetters, age: 2 lying on the ground with grave injuries. CPR was started on scene and both mother and daughter were transported to separate hospitals. Efforts to resuscitate the victims were unsuccessful. Monika and Veronica were both pronounced deceased at 9:49 pm by physicians at the hospitals. (Identical time of death is not a typo.) Monika was pregnant and her unborn child did not survive.

Detectives have spent the months following this incident conducting a thorough investigation, seeking to determine if the decedents fell from a third floor balcony on which they were last seen, or if the incident was intentional.

Based on the findings of the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office and TCSO’s extensive investigation, the actions of that evening have been deemed intentional and the case has been closed as a murder/suicide.

TCSO has worked a total of 3 homicides this year.
