TCSO Arrests Suspect Who Fired Shots at Deputy During Pursuit

In the late afternoon of February 22, 2020, deputies responded to a collision in the 7400 block of SH 130 in which a vehicle involved left the scene. One of the responding deputies saw the vehicle and began following it. The subject driving the vehicle accelerated and evaded the deputy, firing a gun at him multiple times. The driver then caused a collision with two other vehicles at FM 969 and FM 973.

The driver fled on foot into a heavily wooded area and for the next several hours, a search was conducted that included TCSO Deputies, TCSO K9, Austin Police Department, APD Air 1 and Star Flight. The suspect was not located during that search, but evidence in his vehicle along with witness testimony provided detectives with the information they needed to identify the man as ALA MOHAMMAD AL-HILO, 22 of Del Valle, TX.

This afternoon, TCSO, working in partnership with the US Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Al-Hilo. He was booked into the Travis County Jail and is charged with
Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer (Bail: $100,000), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Bail: $25,000), Evading Arrest (Bail: $25,000) and Parole Violation.
