Inmate Dies at Local Hospital
On November 22, 2021, inmate ADAN TORRES, 35 of Buda, died at St. David’s South Austin Hospital.
At 12:55 AM on November 14, 2021, a corrections officer who was conducting visual checks observed Torres to be unresponsive in his cell. CPR was immediately administered by TCSO staff and medical team, then continued by EMS, who transported him to the hospital. Torres was treated in the Intensive Care Unit for several days before ultimately passing away.
Torres had been in custody since October 26, 2021, charged with two out of county warrants. One was a felony and the other a misdemeanor. He was also being held on an additional six charges: Burglary of a Habitation, Fail to ID as Fugitive (2 counts), Possession of a Controlled Substance, Evading Arrest and Obstruction.
An investigation by TCSO’s Internal Affairs Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, the Texas Rangers and the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office is underway, as is customary with any death in custody. The autopsy was conducted on November 23, 2021, and the final report is pending.
