   More than 350 active volunteers work in the jail contributing well more than 10,000 hours per year. Volunteers make up members of jail ministry, leaders of our 12-Step recovery groups, as well as teachers and tutors in our educational and vocational training classes. Jail Volunteer Application Process
It is necessary to establish certain guidelines for the selection of volunteers who may be providing certain services in the jail.
n Interested volunteers must meet minimum standards.
n Submit volunteer application via mail - P.O. Box 1748, Austin, Texas 78767,               	     email Beverly Gentle or fax to (512) 854.5305.
     ** Submission of a volunteer application gives TCSO permission to run a                                            criminal background check on volunteer applicants.
n Interview with department head
n Volunteer Orientation/Photo for Badge
   TB test - Travis County will pay for the test if it is taken by Medical Services at the jail. If applicant chooses to have personal doctor perform the test, cost is volunteer's responsibility.
