The U-Visa is a specialized immigration visa that may lead some undocumented crime victims towards the path of receiving legalized status. This only applies to victims of certain crimes who have suffered mental or physical abuse because of victimization.

Victims applying for a U-Visa need to be currently assisting, have previously assisted or are likely to be helpful to law enforcement in the investigation or prosecution of criminal activity.

The following are some of the crimes for which you may apply for a U-Visa:

  • Abduction
  • Abusive sexual contact
  • Domestic violence
  • False imprisonment
  • Human trafficking
  • Incest
  • Kidnapping
  • Murder
  • Rape
  • Sexual assault
  • Stalking
