Thinking About A Future in Law Enforcement? Become a Cadet!

Our Public Safety Cadets 1099 program is dedicated to preparing young adults, ages 14-20 (until 21st birthday), for careers and leadership in the public safety profession. Our mentoring program builds character, physical fitness and respect for the rule of law. You will develop a greater understanding about the criminal justice field and the role of the Sheriff’s Office.

Meetings involve instructional and hands-on training, in the form of role-playing scenarios to include felony traffic stops, hostage negotiation, building clearance, crime scene investigation, obstacle course and many more engaging topics. Our cadets compete in competitions as well as a variety of agency and community events.

Central Texas Public Safety Cadet Competition

The Travis County Sheriff's Office and Travis County Constable Precinct 2 are co-hosting the 2nd Annual Central Texas Public Safety Cadet Competition for Public Safety Cadet and/or Explorer programs. The one-day competition event is designed to have challenging scenarios based on current Texas law enforcement standardized training which will test your Cadets/Explorers' knowledge and skills. You can learn more about the competition here.
