Only July 7, 2024, TCSO deputies responded to a Family Disturbance call involving Brenna Swindell and Morgan Guidry. The case was assigned to a Family Violence Detective who conducted an investigation, communicating frequently with Swindell. On August 20, 2024, Swindell told the detective she was ready to press charges against Guidry and the detective filed a warrant for Assault/Family Violence/House Member Impeding Breath/Circulation (3rd degree felony).

On August 24, 2024, TCSO conducted a Check Welfare call at the request of Swindell’s parents. Deputies canvased the apartment complex where she lived and did not locate her or her vehicle.

On August 25, 2024, Mr. Greg Swindell went to the Austin Police Department (APD) Headquarters and reported his daughter, Brenna Swindell, missing. Brenna was entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons (NamUs) database, and APD’s Missing Persons and Tactical Intelligence Units began investigating. As the investigation unfolded, it was determined the case was within TCSO’s jurisdiction. On August 26, 2024, APD investigators met with TCSO, and it was determined TCSO would be the lead agency due the location of the apartment and charges TCSO had already filed.

“Anytime a loved one goes missing, family members may reach out to law enforcement agencies for help. I am grateful that APD had involvement investigating this case and that Ms. Brenna Swindell was found safe.”- Interim Police Chief Robin Henderson.

On August 27, 2024, at approximately 1:00 am PT, officers with the Klamath Falls, Oregon Police Department encountered Swindell’s vehicle and stopped it. Brenna Swindell was in the vehicle. Morgan Guidry was also in the vehicle and was arrested on the TCSO warrant. He is currently in custody.
