Body Recovered from Lake Travis

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 26, 2026

Body Recovered from Lake Travis

At 12:05 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, TCSO Lake Patrol Deputies responded to a  911 caller’s report that a man went underwater and did not resurface on the northwestern side of Point Venture, on Lake Travis.

Rescue efforts were unsuccessful, and at 12:46 pm, the rescue mission shifted to a recovery mission. TCSO Lake Patrol was assisted by Texas Game Wardens (TPW), Lower Colorado River Authority, Travis County Fire Rescue (ESD 1), Travis County  Parks and Starflight.

TCSO Lake Patrol Deputies used side scan sonar and a remotely operated underwater  camera system to search the area where the swimmer was last seen. In the early evening hours of July 25, the decedent was located at a depth of 114 feet and was
recovered later in the evening by Morgan’s Point Resort Divers.

Out of respect for the family involved, and because there is currently no indication this is a criminal incident, TCSO will not disclose the identity of the decedent via press release.

TCSO reminds patrons of Lake Travis that the best way to ensure your safety on the  lake, or any other body of water, is to wear a life jacket.
